Vivian's 22nd Birthday Celebration !

Peninsular Malaysia: On 27th of March 2011, it had finally been proven that the story of the ugly duckling is just another fantasy. After 22 years, Vivian Wong the test subject still remains the same. Disappointingly, she from an ugly duckling matured into an ugly duck. Billions of people are now devastated as they are unable to accept that they will remain ugly for the rest of their lives.

Vivian is a childhood friend of mine. We have known each other for more than 10 years. *dread*. Last Saturday, I went to Kelana Jaya just to celebrate her big day. My birthday present was simple: an "Angpow" !

That day, we journeyed all the way from Kelana Jaya to Seremban for lunch. Vivian the giantess insisted to feast upon seafood. So we had squid, clams and 4kg of crabs.

During the lunch, Rachel was starkly hopeless. She barely touched any food at all. However, I salute Jaye for her amazing appetite. She had the same amount of crabs that Vivian and I had. Anyway, the meal was amazing.Totally love the crabs !

We finished the lunch around 4.30pm (too many crabs). Then, we moved to Luna Bar, KL. The place was awesome and the view was remarkable. Moreover, it was Earth Hour Day, so we managed to catch a glimpse of Malaysians' environmental awareness and it was disheartening. Lights were mostly turned on. Nonetheless, we were able to eye Am Bank's environmental consciousness:

Overall, the day was very tiring but I would say it was worth it. I went all the way back to UKM, Bangi at 1 am+.

Jogoya Lunch Buffet Promotion

This Wednesday afternoon, we (Myself, Seow Hui, Seok Kee and Yah Chee) went to Jogoya for lunch. Currently, Jogoya is having a lunch/supper promotion until 27th of April 2011. They are charging two person for the price of one. Including tax and service charge, I approximately paid RM 46 for the lunch buffet.

The Promotion

At Jogoya , there is a plethora of foods that would satisfy your appetite. To describe all the foods there, I might have to spend hours just to list them down. Personally, I find the pastas were tasty especially the Chicken Bolognese.

Gluttony

For sushi lovers, there is a variety of sushis to choose from. Make sure you grab a lot of Unagi-Sushi (often out of supply). For Auntie-auntie, the variation of abalone and oyster servings would definitely make your saliva drool.

Ice cream freaks would find themselves in paradise as Jogoya serves Haagen-Dazs and New Zealand Natural. Because of Haagen-Dazs, I had over-looked the Chocolate Fondue and Bread and Butter Pudding. (Sorry !)

That afternoon, I spent an hour for appetizers and meals with another hour for desserts. Although, it was only two hours, I was surfeited. No matter how much I am addicted to ice cream, after the third serving, I could only stand in front of the Haagen Dazs counter and stare.

We had to walk around Starhill just to improve digestion. All in all, it was a pleasurable buffet. So, for those who are interested, strike while the deal is still there. Or else, you would have to pay the full amount of RM 78++.

Of Blood, Stitches and Slippers

UKM: The last last Thursday was the darkest day of my life. I was star-crossed to the extent that I paid Hospital Kajang a visit. *groan*. The disastrous day started with me having fever in the morning. I was not bothered because I do not usually fuss about consuming antibiotics and whatnot when it comes to minor illnesses. I believe common ailments can drill our immune system.

Consequently, at night, I decided to play badminton in order to sweat the fever away. After few hours, I went back to take my shower at midnight. But the water was so cold that I had to boil some hot water.

The bath with hot water was fantastic but it made me dizzier. In dizziness, I did not realize the metal cover for the drainage hole was opened and I kicked on it. Thereafter, all hell broke loose. I was bleeding incessantly that the bathroom, the corridor and my room were like murder scenes.

Luckily, Manfred (my hero) was able to send me to Hospital Kajang. I had 4 stitches in between my toes. The surgery was so painful that I screamed like a banshee. Nurses and patients thought I was being possessed. When I got back to my college, thank goodness that my floormates had washed the blood stains outside of my room. But I still had to mop and wipe my room by myself at three in the morning. *sigh*

Moreover, I was obliged to go to the ALSA Leader Summit on Saturday as I was the Director for Food and Beverages. I had to wear slacks and slippers to the formal event."You look like a canteen uncle" said Afiq. My look was a fashion disaster and I had to limp for the whole day. *mourn*

iPad 2

I'm fully aware that my current Toshiba notebook is perfectly fine but I just can't take my eyes off 'her'. My desire for an iPad 2 at the moment is comparable to a women wanting for the latest Louis Vuitton clutch or like a teen girl yearning for Justin Bieber .*tee-hee*

In addition to all the new features, the tablet only weighs around 600 grams.Visualize ourselves no longer have to carry a bulky notebook along with a charger every time we walk out from our room or better still we can use it to escape from lifeless conversations and vapid lectures. Furthermore, the iPad 2 can be used to do assignments and presentations via its multi-touch screen. *saliva drooling*. Y'all, take a break from an actual keyboard !

Sadly, the launching date for iPad 2 in Malaysia hasn't been confirmed yet *mourn*. Also with my current financial status perhaps I would have to whore myself to obtain one during my student exchange program at Beijing this May. Any takers? Lol.

Law Night 2011

Petaling Jaya: UKM's Faculty of Law managed to held their annual dinner event - Law Night 2011 at Hotel Singgahsana. Contrary to the theme of "Malam Anugerah Chenta", the evening was neither filled with love and affection but rather vanity of dinner-goers taking pictures at every-single-corner-in-the-hotel. *blushing*

"I'm so hungry that I'm going to faint" said the desperate Ms. Hong Pin Yin. Even though the food was horrendous but due to the brilliant planning of serving dinner at 9pm, the food became unobjectionable as everyone managed to chew and swallow whatever edible material served on the table.(Pictures of food are unavailable as it might cast temporary blindness upon whoever sees it)

Sky juice and tea were the best options for drinks compare to the Singgahsana Mixed Fruit Sirap (the SMFS). The SMFS was so punchy that tongues could no longer detect taste. I implore the Health Ministry to do something about the SMFS. *a permanent ban will do*

Anyway, applauses and cheers for all the performances especially to the John Chan's magic show. Kidding. He and the gang (Aliff, Bulat, Sapawi and Afiq Nazrin) pulled off a spectacular live band performance ! With songs like "Baa Baa Black Sheep" and "Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars", tears rolled down from everyone's cheek. Kidding once again. I meant songs like "I Wanna Hold Your Hands" by the Beatles and etc.

According to unknown sources (Denise, Choon Ming and Fui Yen), the band spent a lot of time practicing before the dinner and we can definitely say their efforts did not go in vain as everyone gave them a standing ovation. Rock stars in the making y'all !

Evaluating the evening holistically, it can be said successful. The hotel was not as creepy and crappy as most of us thought it would be. Since I left early so I can't really tell what had happened after that but I'm guessing the event ended at midnight with smiles and laughters. :D

Research Paper

Splendid news ! Law students from UKM will have to produce a research paper in year three. Though, it was once optional but recently our faculty makes it compulsory beginning from my batch. *tears of joy*

However, at the moment when I optimistically wanted to take this as an opportunity to hone my writing skills in English, we were told to write our mini thesis in BM because we have to be proud of our national language. *a slap on the face*

Seriously? We have to read law bilingually for 4 years and to further demonstrate our love and pride in BM, we have to write our research paper in BM ? If the faculty is doubting our capability to write in English then they should be frank. Giving lame excuse as aforementioned will not hide the cynicism and distrust.

Bah ! No use crying over spilled milk. Anyhow, I've made up my mind on what to do. I'm going to do a research on contract law particularly about economic duress. Wish me luck, y'all ! :)

Japan

It's heartbreaking to see Japan in such a devastating state. More than 10,000 lives had perished and few hundred thousands people have to be evacuated due to the meltdown of nuclear plants in Fukushima . Furthermore, it was also said that this is the costliest disaster ever as total losses could exceed $100 billion. *my prayers and wishes are with people of Japan*

Surprisingly, this sudden disaster makes me realize life is unpredictable and extremely vulnerable. Our lives appear to be subjected to the whims of "someone". Until this moment, life seems no longer in the control of our hand as we cannot fathom when our lives will be taken away. Becoming aware of all these, I understand that living the moment is the utmost consideration. Hence, live as if everyday is the last day of our lives and appreciate the people around us.
